Republican Scientific-Practical conference on "Phenomenon of Jafar Jabbarli in the Azerbaijan Art" was held at the main building of ANAS, devoted to the 120th anniversary of the outstanding representative of Azerbaijani literature, the great poet, writer and playwright Jafar Jabbarli on March 28.

The conference was organized by the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art, ANAS Institute of Architecture and Art and J.Jabbarli Azerbaijan Theater Museum.

Speaking at the conference, ANAS Vice-President, academician Isa Habibbeyli mentioned the Presidential Decree dated December 17, 2018 “On the celebration of the 120th anniversary of Jafar Jabbarli”.

He noted that, Jafar Jabbarli is one of the unique personalities of the 20th century of Azerbaijani literature who have gained great fame. Formed on the basis of the classical literary heritage, the prose writer, while preserving the bright traditions of national literature, simultaneously turned the struggle for innovation and modernization into the main idea of his work.

He also spoke about the exceptional J. Jabbarli’s services in the development of national literature, drama, theater and cinema. He noted that, Jafar Jabbarli’s works, which initiated a new stage in the history of the development of our drama.

Further, Director of the Institute of Architecture and Art, corresponding member of ANAS Salamzade Artegin said that, that the great playwright played a significant role in shaping the theatrical taste of our people. The drama of J. Jabbarli, which includes national and universal human values is a treasure of the Azerbaijani theater scene.

At the conference, was demonstrated documentary film on “From darkness to light”, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of J.Jabbarli. Also, were delivered papers on Jafar Jabbarli’s life and activity.
