XVII scientific-theoretical conference on "Imadeddin Nasimi: predecessors and successors - medieval manuscripts and historical problems of Azerbaijani culture" dedicated to Imadeddin Nasimi’s 650th anniversary was held at the Institute of Manuscripts named after M.Fuzuli of ANAS.

The conference participants first got acquainted with Nasimi's exhibition.

The event was opened by academician Isa Habibbayli, vice-president of ANAS and stated President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the celebration of the 650th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Imadeddin Nasimi on November 15, 2018.

I.Habibbayli also noted that in September this year, the events dedicated to Nasimi's 650th anniversary will take place at the Nakhchivan Department, organized by the History Institute.

Speaking about Nasimi's creativity at the level of the country's leadership, academician said that at the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1973, 600th anniversary of Imadeddin Nasimi was celebrated at UNESCO level. He noted that the statue of Nasimi was erected in Baku, a feature film was shot and named after the metro and district poet, and his works were published in his native language.

The vice president of ANAS, who said that orders signed by President Ilham Aliyev during the years of independence, played an important role in promoting the world, recalled that the successor of the Nasimi heritage, Mohammad Jovdet Nasimi and his family, arrived in Azerbaijan and visited the fatherland, Shamakhi.

Academician-secretary of Humanitarian Sciences Department, director of the Institute of Manuscripts, academician Teymur Karimli, said that Nasimi's work was widely studied by the Institute led by him.

Deputy Director of the Institute of Manuscripts, Doctor of Philology, Professor Pasha Karimov , Professor of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Doctor of Philology Yagub Babayev, Lalazar Alizadeh and others made reports at the event.

Later, the conference continued its work with division sessions.
