Institute of History and ANAS Research Foundation organized a scientific conference on "The Armenian factor in the history of Azerbaijan and its historical roots" at the main bulding on June 24.

Director of the Institute of History, academician Yagub Mahmudov said that, the people of Azerbaijan are among the most exposed to terrorism, genocide and deportations.

The scientist said that our people had a history of tragic events for 200 years and that this bloody history had begun with the relocation of Armenians to the South Caucasus.

Yagub Mahmudov said that, the main goal of the Azerbaijani historians is to convey the true history to the world community and to prevent the Armenian propaganda.

He underlined that, as a result of studies conducted at the Institute of History, there was no Armenian state in the South Caucasus until 1918.

"The Institute published books on the history of the Iravan Khanate and the theory of "great Armenia" which is fabricated.

"Garabagh: Real History, Facts, Documents", "Nakhchivan: Historical and Monuments", "Iravan Khanate: Russian Occupation and Moving Armenians to Northern Azerbaijan" and other books have been translated into different languages and spread abroad ", said the academician.

Speaking at the conference on "The Armenian factor in the national policy of the Soviet state in the South Caucasus" Chairman of the Center for Applied Studies Ibrahim Aliyev emphasized that special attention was paid to strengthening the Armenian factor in the Soviet era.

He noted that, in 1948-1953 Azerbaijanis were massively deported from the historical-ethnic territory of the Armenian SSR, where Armenians were deported from abroad. More than 150,000 Armenians have been relocated to the South Caucasus in 1945-1985.

PhDs in history Jabi Bahramov, Ilgar Niftaliyev, Kamran Ismayilov and others noted that, the Armenians came to the South Caucasus as ethnos and today the Republic of Armenia is being created on the historical lands of Azerbaijan.
