The republican scientific-practical conference on "The image of Nasimi in art", dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Imadeddin Nasimi, was held at the Main building of ANAS on June 28.

The event was organized within the framework of "Nasimi Year" jointly organized by ANAS Department of Humanitarian Sciences and Institute of Architecture and Art.

The event was opened by academician Isa Habibbayli, vice-president of ANAS and stated President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the celebration of the 650th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Imadeddin Nasimi on November 15, 2018.

I.Habibbayli also noted that in September this year, the events dedicated to Nasimi's 650th anniversary will take place at the Nakhchivan Department, organized by the History Institute.

Speaking about Nasimi's creativity at the level of the country's leadership, academician said that at the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1973, 600th anniversary of Imadeddin Nasimi was celebrated at UNESCO level. He noted that the statue of Nasimi was erected in Baku, a feature film was shot and named after the metro and district poet, and his works were published in his native language.

The vice president of ANAS, who said that orders signed by President Ilham Aliyev during the years of independence, played an important role in promoting the world, recalled that the successor of the Nasimi heritage, Mohammad Jovdet Nasimi and his family, arrived in Azerbaijan and visited the fatherland, Shamakhi.

Then Director of the Institute of Architecture and Art, correspondent member of ANAS Ertegin Salamzadeh said that creation of Nasimi's artistic image in the Azerbaijani art is the most important contribution to our national culture. He noted that the image of Nasimi was reflected not only in sculpture, but also in painting, carpet art, and the images of the poet's postage stamps kept their originality.

The conference was also attended by Doctor of Science in Art Studies, Ph.D. in Art Studies Sevil Farhadova,   Associate Professor Vidadi Gafarov and Honorary Art Worker Ayaz Salayev .
