On October 15, the regular meeting of the Joint Council of Veterans of the ANAS was held.

The event, which was held in the main building of ANAS, was attended by the deputy Ccairman of the Organization of War, Labor and Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, retired Colonel Jalil Khalilov and chairmen of councils of veterans of scientific institutions and organizations.

In advance, a minute of silence was honored in memory of Simurg Shabanov, who was chairman of the Council of Veterans of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics.

Opening the meeting, the chairman of the council Eldar Guliyev said that this institution regulates its activities in accordance with the "Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Veterans", approved by national leader Heydar Aliyev on June 28, 1994. According to him, the document will ensure the social and legal protection of veterans, provision of housing, the exercise of labor rights without restrictions, and participation in socially useful events.

E. Guliyev noted that this year the JCV took a number of measures to boost work, provide assistance to needy veterans and improve the work of veteran councils in scientific institutions. He also instructed the chairpersons of Veteran Councils to compile lists of low-income veterans working in academic institutions and organizations. According to him, according to the lists, low-income veterans will be provided with lump-sum benefits, reduced-price meals and trips to medical sanatoriums.

E. Guliyev also said that an Action Plan was developed and submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Defense in honor of the 75th anniversary of the victory over fascism. Noting that more than 600,000 of our compatriots took part in the Great Patriotic War, the chairman of the JCV said that today it is necessary to intensify the campaign to promote patriotism among young people. He noted that the Organization of Veterans of War, Labor and Armed Forces bears a great responsibility in this regard.

Then, a retired colonel Jalil Khalilov spoke about the history, activities and achievements of the organization he represents. He noted that the Republican Organization of Veterans was officially registered on May 10, 1992 in accordance with the relevant decision of the Ministry of Justice. He said that with the return of national leader Heydar Aliyev to Azerbaijan, the government has stepped up the state’s concern for veterans. J. Khalilov said that President Ilham Aliyev is currently pursuing this policy, and one-time financial assistance, housing and personal cars were provided to the veterans.

At the meeting, speeches of chairmen of councils of veterans of scientific institutions and organizations were heard and a number of pressing issues were discussed.
