On October 22, ANAS Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, Executive Power of Surakhani District, Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art and Heydar Aliyev Center of Surakhani district has hosted for a scientific session dedicated the 650th anniversary of the famous Azerbaijani poet Imaddaddin Nasimi.

The participants of the event laid flowers at the monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in Surakhani district and honored his memory.

Speaking at the scientific session, head of the executive power of Surakhani district Ilgar Abbasov said that the announcement of 2019 "Year of Nasimi" by the order of President Ilham Aliyev is a testament to the great thinker and creativity.

Then, vice-president of ANAS director of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the rich literary heritage of the thinker, his position in the Azerbaijani literature. He noted that the Institute of Literature has prepared a monograph "Imadaddin Nasimi, the great Azerbaijani poet," and that Azerbaijani scientists participated in poetry events in Serbia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria and other countries.

Isa Habibbayli recalled that on the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev, 600th year anniversary of Imadaddin Nasimi was included in UNESCO's list of events and was celebrated internationally in 1973.

Further, the rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art, Professor Jeyran Mahmudova informed about the activities carried out within the framework of the "Year of Nasimi" at the university.
