Azerbaijan held monitoring of radon and meteorological parameters in three stationary geophysical stations

The 18th ussue of “Geophysical Processes and Biosphere", co-authored by academician Akpar Feyzullayev, ANAS correspondent members - Chingiz Aliyev, Dadash Huseynov, Misir Mardanov, Rauf Bagirli and Hilala Jafarova was published by Russian Academy of Sciences.

Article “Statistical analysis of the results of monitoring the level of radon and meteorological parameters in the premises of geophysical stations in Azerbaijan” published the results of monitoring of radon and meteorological parameters in three stationary geophysical stations in Azerbaijan (Sheki, Shamakhi and Kurdamir) for 2016-2017 and a statistical analysis of the level of interaction between them. The research database included 13,152 measuring complexes.

Statistical analysis of data for the entire observation period shows that, the correlation between radon intensity and climatic parameters is weak. However, according to monthly average values, at all stations there is a positive relationship between radon and air humidity. At stations Shamakhi and Sheki, a decrease in atmospheric pressure and an increase in air temperature are accompanied by an increase in radon levels.
