Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

A scientific session themed “Image of Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan Literature: from Historical Reality to Ideal” was held in the Institute of Literature of ANAS named after Nizami Ganjavi on May 7. The event was dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

A book exhibition reflecting the rich heritage of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the beginning of the session.

Isa Habibbeyli, the academician, president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences opened the scientific session with his speech underlining the invaluable historical services of Heydar Aliyev for the country. The academician stressed that the conferences, scientific sessions, round table meetings devoted to Heydar Aliyev are organized annually, in a traditional way, on the eve of the birthday of National Leader Heydar Aliyev as well as in different periods. Isa Habibbeyli president of ANAS underscored that, it is for the first time, this year, the 101st anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev is ceremoniously celebrated in Azerbaijan fully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty. The academician stressed that National Leader Heydar Aliyev, during his meeting with the voters, being a parliamentary candidate for Milli Majlis on September 25, 1990, spoke about his deep wish to fully restore the territorial integrity of our country and eternalize Azerbaijan independence. 

Mentioning that National Leader Heydar Aliyev had invaluable services in restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the president of ANAS said that the ceasefire was achieved due to Heydar Aliyev at the front in 1994. Academician Isa Habibbeyli said that National Leader Heydar Aliyev thought about the future of Azerbaijan as well and pointed out the great heritage of the distinguished figure. He stressed that our territorial integrity is fully restored due to the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. The academician highlighted that the name of President Ilham Aliyev is written in the history of Azerbaijan with golden letters as Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief and stressed that all our historical and strategic goals were achieved in a matter of 44 days. Reminding the military parade dedicated to the third anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War held on November 8 in 2023 in Khankendi, the president of ANAS mentioned that this one more time shows to the world that President Ilham Aliyev is a victorious Commander-in-Chief, faithful and courageous head of state.

“The era of Heydar Aliyev has a special place in multicentury statehood history of Azerbaijan. This historic distinguished figure as a founder of independent Azerbaijan played a significant role in his mission”-said academician Isa Habibbeyli. He underlined that 2023 was declared “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in Azerbaijan and lots of works had been done during that year for introducing the historical heritage of National Leader to the future generation as well as his incomparable services to the world again.

He highlighted that 52 books and monographs and materials of 16 conferences were published within the “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in ANAS.

Isa Habibbeyli mentioned that our scientists consider it as their duty to scientifically study and deliver the life and path of National Leader, his incomparable services for Azerbaijan to the public.

The academician said that the two-volume monograph named “Image of Heydar Aliyev; historicity and modernity” and a book consisting of decrees and orders of Heydar Aliyev about Azerbaijan Literature are to be published by the Institute of Literature of ANAS named after Nizami Ganjavi.  He pointed out that the heritage of Heydar Aliyev is scientifically studied and new fundamental monographs of a genius person is making in the Institute of Literature.

The scientists of ANAS also made speeches at the event.

It was highlighted that National Leader Heydar Aliyev paid a great attention to literature, art, culture, social-political activity within the period of his leadership and tried hard for the development of these spheres. Prominent political figure Heydar Aliyev’s path has glorious and brilliant chronicle and therefore every moment of his life in serving for Azerbaijan nation is of great importance for us.
