Discussions on the management of natural farming systems in arid regions of Azerbaijan

Scientific-practical conference on "Organization and management of natural farming systems in arid regions of Azerbaijan" was organized by the Institute of Geography named after academician Hasan Aliyev of ANAS and Azerbaijan Geographical Society.

In advance, a representative of Mingachevir city Executive Power Sahil Babayev informed about economic development of the region, industrial facilities, population etc., and wished success to the conference.

Speaking later, director of the Institute of Geography and President of the Geographical Society, acad. Ramiz Mammadov said that the measures taken within the framework of the State Programs should be based on scientific knowledge, enhancing scientific innovations, making more effective use of the natural-geohgraphical condition, studying its role in effective territorial organization are main tasks facing scientists.

Then, Ramiz Mammadov delivered a wide lecture on "Impact of climate change on natural farming systems of arid lands", which provides a theoretical basis for climate change, studies of climate in the country, observed climate parameters, impact of climate change on agriculture, water resources, the Caspian Sea, human health, and so on.

At the event, Dr. Geography Zakir Eminov, who delivered a lecture on "Life quality of the population in Azerbaijan and its impact on demographic development", brought to mind an increase in the total population of urban and rural areas in Azerbaijan and its economic regions on account the level of urbanization of these areas, the birth rates, deaths and natural growth rates per 1,000 people, reproduction, child and maternal mortality rates.

Delivering a lecture on "Basic Principles of Landscape - Ecological Situation and Optimization of Arid and Semiarid areas," PhD in Geography Mirnuh Ismayilov stated that, they had created a geographical database based on space images, topographic maps and field research materials and carried out a wide range of analyses.

The plenary session was also attended by PhDs in Geography Habil Hagverdiyev with a lecture on "Arid - Landscape Resources and Problems of Use in Azerbaijan", Zaur Imrani's "Sustainable Tourism Economy", Zernura Hamidova "Method for Detection of Flood Dangerous Areas on Remote Sensing Materials".

During the conference there were held sections on “Modern problems of physical geography, use of natural resources and protection of ecological balance” and “Modern problems of economic geography, territorial organization of economy and population”.
