The next republican workshop has been held at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS.

Opening the workshop, director of the institute, academician Akif Alizadeh informed the atendees on the issues of agenda.

Then, academician Hatam Guliyev and PhD in Geology-mineralogy Khanlar Aghayev submitted the vulnerable results obtained in a whole year. The report proposes a new geomechanical approach based on a non-classical linear approximation of the nonlinear elastodynamics of a complex of seismic and borehole geophysical data, including the Birch diagram taking into account the features of nonlinear deformation processes and the fundamental principles of mechanics of a deformable solid. 

Reports by academic-secretary of ANAS Division of Earth Sciences academic Fakhraddin Gadirov, Professor of ANAS Gulam Babayev, director of the Republican Center for Seismological Survey, corresponding member of ANAS Gurban Yetirmishli, PhD in Earth sciences Assoc. Prof. Sabina Kazimova and Italian professor Luciano Telesca have been submitted in the meeting as well. It was stated that, a combined method, creating an integrated model of regional tectonic stress in the lithosphere of the Azerbaijani part of the East Caucasus, based on a cataclastic analysis of the focal mechanisms of earthquakes and the CASMO (World Stability Map) program, has been proposed.

Corresponding member of ANAS Talat Kangarli brought to mind that, concept of creating geoparks in the Caucasus for the first time due to "Protection of Rare Geological Objects in Azerbaijan and Action Plan on their susitanble usage” is being elaborated.

Afterwards, Dr. Geology-Mineralogy Mukhtar Rustamov stated that, during the geological history of the Phanerozoic of the Caspian-Caucasian segment of the Mediterranean folding zone, serious geodynamic conditions were determined during the Baikal, Khersinsky, Kimer and Alpine tectonic periods.

Later on, outcomes of joint research work by Prof. Musa Mammadov, corresponding member of ANAS T. Kangarli and PhD in Geology-mineralogy Gultekin Babayeva, was presented.

Finally, academic A.Alizadeh gave his recommendation for vulnerable scientific results of 2019.
