On November 21, Central Scientific Library with the joint organization of the Institute of Philosophy of ANAS and National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO hosted an international scientific conference on topic "Philosophy of Imadaddin Nasimi and UNESCO values”.

Opening the event, ANAS vice -president academic Isa Habibbayli reminded the orders of President Ilham Aliyev “On the celebration of the 650th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Imadaddin Nasimi” dated November 15, 2018 and “On the announcement of 2019 in the Republic of Azerbaijan as the Year of Nasimi” dated 11 January 2019. These documents attest to the imparting of personal value and heritage of Nasimi and provide an opportunity to better understand the life and work of the master of the word. Nasimi laid the foundation for the literature of Hurufism in Azerbaijan, and man is described as the highest being in the universe in his poetry, he noted.

ANAS vice-president spoke about the universal moral values of Nasimi’s creativity, humanism and its role in the formation of the poetic language of the Azerbaijani language. He said that the poet's lyricism, which has unique artistic features, enriched our vocabulary in form and content.

Then director of the Institute of Philosophy Professor Ilham Mammadzadeh said that Nasimi left an indelible legacy in both literature and philosophy. Nasimi not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the East has spread Hurufism. He stressed out that the poet is always in the center of attention of leading scientists of the world with his deep logical and philosophical views.

The Deputy Minister of Culture corresponding member of ANAS Sevda Mammadaliyeva said that Nasimi began to promote the ideas of humanism in the 14th century and laid the foundation for the development of many peoples from the Balkans to India. It was noted that the personality of Nasimi was valued even in Soviet times, so on the initiative of the great leader Heydar Aliyev in 1973, the poet’s 600th birthday was celebrated at the UNESCO level, a monument to the great thinker was erected in Baku. S. Mammadaliyeva also recalled that this year the International Astronomical Union named in honor of the poet one of the minor planets - Nasimi.

Academician Nargiz Akhundova, academic secretary of ANAS Division of Social Sciences, Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Secretary General of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO Elnur Sultanov, head of the EU Delegation to our Country Kestutis Yankauskas, French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zahar Gross, and cultural adviser to the Turkish Embassy Irfan Chiftchi told about rich poetry of Nasimi and his role in the development of medieval philosophical thought.

Then lectures of domestic and foreign scholars were listened on the following topics: “Characteristics of the personality and philosophy of Imadaddin Nasimi”, “A glance at the philosophy of Nasimi”, “Nasimi at the crossroads of poetry and philosophy”, “The role of Imadaddin Nasimi in the formation of Hurufi views of Habibi.”

The conference proceedings were published on the book “Philosophy of Nasimi and universal values”.
