Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

An international scientific workshop was held at the Institute of Linguistics named after Nasimi of ANAS.

The event was opened by the director of the institution, academician Mohsun Naghisoylu, who noted that today’s workshop will cover the lecture by Shukra Haluk Akalin, professor of Hajettepe University in Turkey, on the topic “Solar linguistic theory in Turkish history: past and present”. M. Naghisoylu noted that the scientist has been working closely with the Institute of Linguistics for many years and is deeply interested in Azerbaijani science and language.

Later on, Turkish scientist presented his scientific lecture and brought to mind that, author of the idea of "solar language theory" was the Austrian scientist Dr. Hermann Kwerwich, and this ideology was supported and developed by Mustafa Kamal Atatürk in the 1930s. He said that the essence of the theory is that Turkish is one of the first languages in world history, as well as the source of many words in other languages.

Sh.H. Akalin said that important studies were conducted in Turkey, but were not accepted by linguists in the international arena.

The lecture aroused great interest of the participants, discussions were held on this topic.

In conclusion, Sh.H. Akalin was granted a letter of thanks for his contribution to the development of Azerbaijani-Turkish scientific ties.
