The presentation of the book “Oral Traditional Azerbaijani Music” (volumes I and II) was organized by the Institute of Folklore of ANAS at International Mugham Center.

Opening the event, director of the Institute of Folklore academician Mukhtar Imanov spoke about the importance of a book dedicated to oral music and dance in Azerbaijan. He noted that the samples collected in the book are not limited to the territory of Northern Azerbaijan, but also cover various areas where the Turkmen of South Azerbaijan, Dagestan and Iraq live.

M. Imanov stressed out role of Naila Rahimbayli, head of Music Folklore Department of the institute Doctor of Arts, Mehman Mikayilov, the teacher of the M. Zeynalli Music College at the National Conservatory of Azerbaijan, and Tariyel Mammadov, Honored Art Worker, Doctor of Arts, Professor in preparation of the first volume of the book dubbed “Classifications and songs”, as well as second volume “Dances”.

Speaking at the event, Naila Rahimbayli, said that the collection and recording of Azerbaijani folk music has been in the focus of attention in recent years, First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva always attaches great importance to the folk music and mugham.
