Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On September 25, 2014 at Institute of Literature of ANAS held the international conference “Abdurrahman Jami and Modernity” dedicated to the 600th anniversary of the Persian-Tajik scholar and poet Movlana Abdurrahman Jami. In the foyer the exhibition of books of the prominent East thinker Abdurrahman Jami published in the Azerbaijani, Tajik, English and Russian languages was organized. At the action which held by organization of ANAS and Embassy of Republic of Tajikistan in Azerbaijan were read the letters of congratulations of ANAS President, academician Akif Alizadeh and President of Tajikistan Academy of Sciences, corresponding member Farkhad Rakhimov. Conference was opened by the Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, academician Isa Habibbayli who spoke about the friendship and scientific relations between the two countries and expressed confidence in further development of these relations. Academician Isa Habibbayli gave detailed information about the life and work of Abdurrahman Jami, the famous not only in the East, but also throughout the world. It was noted that the world community gives appreciation to A. Jami's creative heritage. Now works of the prominent thinker are translated and published around the world. Academician noted that by the Order of President of country Ilham Aliyev from January 12, 2004 work of a number of world classics, including A. Jami's published by Latin graphics the works, were presented to country libraries. Academician I.Habibbeyli estimated this initiative as a bright indicator of existing cultural ties between two countries. It was noted that works of the ingenious master of the word are regularly published. The Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Republic of Tajikistan Zokhir Saidov thanked the President of country, including the management of ANAS for the organization of the international action and expressed confidence in further development of scientific and cultural ties between two countries. Then the representative of UNESCO in Azerbaijan Gyunay Efendiyeva told about the works realized by the international organization in the field of a non-material cultural heritage. She stressed the active participation of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in this area. It was noted that the work of Abdurrahman Jami widely promoted at the international level. Then in the electronic assembly hall the video conference with the President of Academy of Tajikistan Sciences, corresponding member Farkhad Rakhimov was established. Within the action were heard the reports of plenipotentiary ambassador of Iran in Azerbaijan Mohsun Pakain on “Abdurrahman Dzhami – the humanist who doesn't have to himself similarity” and corresponding member of Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, professor Mirso Mulloanmadov on “Nizami Ganjavi and Jami” and Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Academician of ANAS Teymur Karimli.
