On January 30, Institute of Law and Human Rights of ANAS held a ceremony of presenting a certificate and a medal established by the International Fund named after Professor Rovshan Mustafayev.
Opening the event director of the Institute of Law and Human Rights Doctor of Law, Professor Ayten Mustafazadeh noted that in 2020 the medal and certificate named after “Professor Rovshan Mustafayev” was awarded to a senior lecturer at the University of Malmo, a researcher at Lund University and the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Sweden Doctor Law Sciences Kamal Makili-Aliyev. She informed the participants about the life and activities of Kamal Makili-Aliyev. It was brought to attention that Kamal Makili-Aliyev, conducting comparative, multilateral analyzes to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peacefully in the framework of international law, puts forward concrete proposals to solve the problem from the point of view of international law.
Ayten Mustafazadeh noted that there is a need for researchers and scientists who can contribute to bringing the realities of Azerbaijan to the whole world, as well as to give a fair assessment of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of international law.
“One of such researchers is Kamal Makili-Aliyev. I believe that in his future activities he will give preference to protecting the rights of Azerbaijan on the international plane,”said Professor Ayten Mustafazade.
Kamal Makili-Aliyev, through a slide, informed of a research paper entitled “Disputed Territories and International Law: A Comparative Analysis of Nagorno-Karabakh and the Aland Islands.” It was noted that to date, international law on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, in particular, Western publications is not well understood. He noted that in the work, the author of which he is, a comparative analysis of the Aland model and the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict from the point of view of international law is carried out. Kamal Makili-Aliyev brought to the attention that the Åland model cannot be fully applied to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but certain important elements can be used in resolving the conflict.
Recall that the medal and certificate named after “Professor Rovshan Mustafayev” is awarded once a year to scientists and researchers who have distinguished themselves by their active, fruitful activities in conducting research on the Armenian issue and identifying irrefutable scientific facts.
