Scientific session on "Literary trends: poetics and aesthetics"

The next scientific session on "Literary trends: poetics and aesthetics" was held at the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS.

Isa Habibbayli, first vice-president of ANAS director of the institute, spoke about the literary trends and their position in Azerbaijani literature. The scientist said that so far there have been few studies in literary areas, and emphasized the need for their fundamental study.

Scientist told about the activities of scientists such as Mammad Jafar Jafarov, Huseyn Hashimli, Gorkhmaz Guliyev and Yashar Garayev, who conducted research on the study of literary trends. He noted that for a detailed study of this problem, the institute had established a sector of literary areas.

The historical literature of Azerbaijan such directions as realism, educational realism, romanticism, critical realism, socialist realism, modernism, sentimentalism were formed, and during the period of independence, tendencies of decadence, magical realism, neorealism, postmodernism were observed, the scientist noted.

Speaking about the problem of literary schools and literary movements, academician I. Habibbayli said that literary schools are long-term, and literary movements arise at a certain time.

Then, lectures on topics “The historical sources of the methods of structuralism and poststructuralism and their position in the analysis of literary works”, “Formalism and the mechanism of influence on modern philological thought”, “Postmodernism in the context of Azerbaijani literature”, “Problems of the analysis of the postmodern text in literary criticism” and “ Typological features of modernism and its manifestation in Azerbaijani prose”, were delivered.
