Joint Council of Veterans discussed a number of issues

On February 25, the regular meeting of the Joint Council of Veterans (JCV) of ANAS was held.

Opening the meeting, the chair of JCV, Eldar Guliyev, informed the participants about the agenda. He reminded that on June 28, 1994, the "Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Veterans" was adopted. According to him, the document provides for the provision of social and legal protection for veterans, the provision of housing, the exercise of labor rights without restrictions, and participation in socially useful events.

Speaking about the work done by the JCV in recent years, E. Guliyev said that currently there are 2447 veterans in ANAS, and 802 veterans were awarded the title and certificate "Veteran of Labor" in 2013-2019. He noted that 23 of these veterans are academics, 23 are corresponding members of ANAS, 262 are doctors of sciences and 517 are doctors of philosophy. He also said that one of them is a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, 16 - veterans of the Afghan war and 91 - a veteran of the Karabakh war. In addition, he noted that practical work was done to increase the social protection of veterans working in scientific institutions and organizations.

Noting that in May of this year the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War will be celebrated, the chairman of the council said that an action plan has been prepared in this regard. He emphasized the importance of celebrating this significant day in the Councils of Veterans of scientific institutions and organizations of the Academy.

During the meeting, the powers of the chairman of the Joint Council of Veterans were transferred to the deputy chairman of the JCV, deputy director of the Scientific Center of the Azerbaijan National Encyclopedia Zulfugar Farzaliyev.

In conclusion, a number of topical issues were scheduled.
