Published a new book devoted to the archaeological heritage of Karabakh

The monograph of the head department of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Professor Hidayat Jafarov dubbed “Ancient Karabakh” was released.

Reviewers of a book published by “Elm” Publishing House are professors Abbas Seyidov and Najaf Museyibli.

The new publication examines the ethnocultural processes that took place in the Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age in Karabakh, an inseparable and primordial territory of Azerbaijan. The monograph reflects information on the habitat, gravestones, artifacts extracted from the monuments, primitive architecture, burial ceremonies, economic zones, crafts, economic and cultural relations, social structures, etc.

The first part of the work, consisting of eight chapters, is devoted to the study of the archaeological monuments of Karabakh, the second part is to the monuments of the early Bronze Age of Karabakh, the third chapter is to the Middle Bronze Age, the fourth to the late Bronze Age and early iron. Chapter 5 addresses the problems of chronological peiodization of monuments. The sixth chapter of the monograph tells about the economic life and art of the region for the studied period. The cultural and economic relations of Karabakh with the outside world were highlighted in the last chapters and affected the social structure of the ancient population.

In his fundamental research, Professor H. Jafarov showed by archaeological facts the connection of Karabakh during the Bronze Age with other regions of Azerbaijan from an ethnic and cultural point of view.

The monograph is intended for archaeologists, historians and ethnographers, as well as for a wide range of readers.
