Qatar's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Faisal bin Abdullah Al Hanzab visited the Institute of Oriental Studies named after academician Z.M. Bunyadov ANAS.

First of all, the ambassador met with the director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, academician Govkhar Bakhshaliyeva. Speaking about the scientific and cultural ties of Azerbaijan with the Arab countries, G. Bakhshaliyeva especially emphasized the role of oriental scholars in strengthening these ties. She spoke about the studies conducted at the institute on history, economics, the Arabic language and literature, and published books. The director noted that the Arab sources contain important information on the history of many peoples, including Azerbaijan.

The ambassador, in turn, praised the studies conducted in the field of Arabic studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies, and emphasized the importance of establishing contacts with scientific and educational institutions of Qatar.

Then the ambassador met with the staff of the Institute of Oriental Studies and responded the questions of interest to orientalists.
