Organized video tours to Nizami Museum in five languages

Organized video tours to Nizami Museum in five languages

For many decades now, National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS has been telling local and foreign guests in various languages about the history of Azerbaijani literature and culture, its outstanding representatives and rare pearls. As a rule, the halls of this temple of culture are always filled with tourists and citizens of the country. The thoughts collected throughout these years in the “Book of Reviews” are a clear indicator of interest in Azerbaijani culture and literature in the presentation of the Nizami Museum.

Due to the worldwide spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the Nizami Museum also operates in accordance with the requirements of the quarantine regime. To continue communication with its visitors, a number of projects are being implemented in the museum, one of which is the project “Video excursions to the halls of the Nizami Museum”. Through this project, citizens of the republic and foreign guests, being at home, can get acquainted with the museum, accompanied by experienced guides of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature.

Viewers can get information in five languages - Azerbaijani, English, Russian, Persian and Arabic - about the museum halls, exhibits, manuscripts, archaeological materials, miniatures, carpets, paintings and sculptures, mock-ups of architectural monuments, as well as to personally see all this with the help of cameras.

Through video tours, viewers will receive information about all the major milestones in the development of Azerbaijani literature and culture, starting with the Azykh cave, which is located on the territory of Karabakh - the ancient cradle of Azerbaijani culture. Here are samples of material culture of the III-VII centuries, archeology, geography, musical culture of the Dede Qorgud era, paintings, ancient books, samples of decorative and applied art, indicating the flourishing of literature and philosophical thought in the IX-XIII centuries, including information about such prominent representatives of Azerbaijani literature of the Middle Ages as Mehseti Ganjavi, Khagani Shirvani, Nizami Ganjavi, Imadaddin Nasimi, Shah Ismail Khatai, Muhammad Fizuli, etc.

Video tours will be interesting not only for literature lovers, but also for high school students who are regular visitors to the museum. The Nizami Museum project is an additional aid that can be applied during distance learning.

For ease of viewing, the video excursions posted on the You Tube channel of the museum and the official website nizamimuseum.az are divided into separate parts. Each separate plot presents a particular exposition hall or an outstanding representative of literature, and sometimes a valuable exhibit with a rich history. Note that video excursions also give place to samples from the works of our classics.

Reviews received by the Nizami Museum’s e-mail from Azerbaijan and foreign countries indicate that in a short period of time video excursions won a large audience.
