Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

October 21, 2014 at the hotel “Hyatt Recency” started Azerbaijani-Belarusian international conference organized by the Science Development Fund under the President of Azerbaijan Republic.

In advance, the attendees familiarized with the exhibition a number of local and foreign companies, providing research projects to date and high quality scientific instruments, installations, material, equipment, information and communication technologies (ICT).

Speaking at the plenary session Executive Director of the Science Development FundElchin Babayev told about the purpose of the international conference and its significance for the two countries. It was reported that the purpose of the event is to analyze the scientific achievements obtained during the year on research projects carried out in the framework of the joint Azerbaijan-Belarus grant competition. E. Babayev noted that the first international conference of the Azerbaijani-Belarusian once again confirms the rapid development of mutual cooperation at the scientific level between the two countries.

It was noted that prior to the conference was a meeting of the Joint Committee for the grants. During the meeting, meetings were held on the organization and the II Azerbaijan-Belarus international grant competition, as well as issues discussed and agreed on the priorities of the competition, and the date of the examination.

The conference was officially declared the second Azerbaijani-Belarusian international grant competition.

Competition for funding the Science Development Fund as a whole has been allocated funds in the amount of 500 thousand AzN. In contrast the first contest, the second contest will cover all scientific fields and directions. After winners’ examination and announcement, will begin funding projects in the first half of 2015.

Addressing the event, President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh noted the special importance of the conference to further enhance collaboration between scientists of the two countries and wished the success of its work. Noting that these activities make an important contribution to the development of Azerbaijani-Belarusian relations, President of ANAS stressed the importance of joint international forum.

Praising the work of the Fund and the work done in five years, Akif Alizadeh has congratulated the staff on the landmark date. Executive Director of the Fund E.Babayev was awarded a Diploma of the Presidium of ANAS.

Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Azerbaijan Nikolai Paskevich, First DeputyMinister of Communications and High Tech Iltimas Mammadov, Executive Director FFIRB Orlovich Valentine, vice president of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, director of the Institute of Physics Professor Nazim Mammadov, director of the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Gaponenko and others spoke about the scientific achievements obtained by scientists of the two countries in recent years, noted the importance of such events for the exchange of experiences.

Then the conference continued its work in sections.
