Published work on the history of Albania

The fundamental work of the employee of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Professor Gafar Jabiev in Russian “Girdiman. History and historical geography.”

The editor of the book, which was published at the  “Elm ve Tahsil” Publishing House, is academician Yagub Mahmudov, and reviewers are corresponding members of ANAS Veli Aliyev and Jafar Giyasi.

The work consists of nine chapters. The book contains 54 images of monuments in the Girdiman region and archaeological research conducted there, as well as 43 boards reflecting photos and images of rare archaeological finds.

Over the years, the Girdiman region has occupied an important place in the economic, political, military, religious and cultural life of the ancient Azerbaijani state - Albania. There were disagreements among researchers about the history and territory of this region. Most researchers claimed that the Girdiman region was located in the west or northwest of Albania. For the first time, this false version was purposefully introduced into scientific circulation by the head of the Department of Caucasian Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Academician S. Eremyan, trying to falsify the history of Albania.

The author clearly answered all the claims of Armenian historians. For the first time, Professor Gafar Jabiyev, based on scientific arguments, proved that the Girdiman region was located in the Shirvan region, in the basin of the Agsuchay, Girdimanchay and Goychay rivers.

In the “Preface” to the book, academician Yagub Mahmudov noted that the author relying on irrefutable scientific facts, proved the groundlessness of the statements of S. Eremyan and other Armenian historians and presented the historical truth to the entire scientific community.

Note that the monograph is intended for historians, archaeologists, ethnographers, as well as for a wide readership.
