Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Presidium of ANAS hosted the regular assembly of ANAS Department of Agrarian Sciences October 31. General Director of the Agrarian Science Center of the Ministry of Agriculture Asad Musayev, director of the Scientific-Research Institute of Agriculture Javanshir Talai, director of the Research Institute of Fodder crops, meadows and pastures Chingiz Aliyev, general director of Azerbaijan Scientific Production Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Land Reclamation Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Agamir Hashimov and delegates of other organizations.

Department assembly was dedicated to final report of “Evaluation of winter pastures of the Great Caucasus” project funded by Volkswagen Foundation Program for Central Asia and Caucasus together with Greifswold University.

In addition to being a cheap source for cattle, winter pastures of Azerbaijan have great importance for the maintenance of biodiversity. Taking into account this nature the implementation of this project is of particular importance. Winter pastures are located in the south part of Azerbaijan.

In the assembly were reported Vugar Babayev, head of ANAS Department of Innovation and Bunyamin Seyidov, head of Department of International Relations with foreign academic institutions, ANAS Office of International Relations.

Project was discussed by Michael Ruh, Tubukhanum Gasimzadeh, Jonathan Etzold, Regina Neudert, and Afarim Hasanova.

It should be noted that, as a result of the project, the manual has been developed for the monitoring of winter pastures in the Caucasus.

At the meeting, the representative of the UN Eltekin Omerov, delegate of the German Society for International Cooperation to Azerbaijan (GIZ) Tomriz Bayramova, World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), and director of Azerbaijan delegation Elshad Asgarov reported and highly praised the completed project.
