An online conference was held at the Heydar Aliyev Museum in Nakhchivan dedicated to the 97th birthday of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Speaking at the event, chairman of the Nakhchivan Division of ANAS academician Ismayil Hajiyev, said that although our republic occupied one of the last places in the former union in the 60s of the last century, all spheres began to develop rapidly after the leadership of a prominent statesman, in a short time our republic became an agro-industrial country. During this period, hundreds of educational, health and cultural institutions were built in Azerbaijan, and new industrial enterprises were created.
“Thanks to the unprecedented services to Azerbaijan during both periods of political leadership, the name of the great leader went down in Russian history as the founder of our national statehood,” said Ismail Hajiyev, noting that the national leader Heydar Aliyev, who came to power for the second time in 1993, saved Azerbaijan from destruction and decay, created a new state and defined its strategy of political and economic development for decades to come. The foundation of economic independence and integration of our country into the world economic system was laid in 1994 with the signing of the "Contract of the Century" under the leadership of the great leader Heydar Aliyev.
The head of the department noted that the achievements of national leader Heydar Aliyev are invaluable in protecting the autonomy of our ancient land of Nakhchivan, protecting it from Armenian occupation and achieving today's development.
Then the first vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli delivered a lecture on "The Doctrine of the Statehood of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the Modern Era." The scientist noted that the outstanding statesman Heydar Aliyev is one of the rare world leaders of the twentieth century. He was represented in the Politburo of the former USSR and for a long time led Azerbaijan. At the first stage of this political activity, he did a great job of preparing his people for future independence and played an important role in national awakening.
The first-vice president emphasized that thanks to the great leader Heydar Aliyev, who lived in Nakhchivan in 1991-1993, a number of important political decisions were made aimed at the future independence of Azerbaijan.
