Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On May 14, with the organizational support of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, an online scientific conference “Heydar Aliyev and the National Model of Economic Development of Azerbaijan” was held, dedicated to the 97th birthday of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev.

The event was opened by the rector of the university, Professor Gulchohra Mammadova, who spoke about the exceptional historical achievements of the architect and builder of the independent Azerbaijan state, the founder of the idea of ​​national solidarity and ideology of Azerbaijan, the great leader Heydar Aliyev to our people and the state.

At a plenary meeting, the chairman of the Union of Economists of Azerbaijan, academician Ziyad Samadzadeh delivered a lecture on "Heydar Aliyev and the strategy for the development of the economy of Azerbaijan", head of the Department of Industry and Energy of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Professor Elshan Hajizadeh on topic "Global appeals and new goals for the development of national energy Sector ”, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications, Doctor of Economics Vusal Gasimli  on topic “Development model of the economy of Azerbaijan” and professor of the Azerbaijan State Economic University Elshad Mammadov on topic “ Economic policy of Azerbaijan in the context of new appeals ”.

The conference also heard a report by the Director of the Institute of Economics of ANAS, Professor Nazim Imanov “On Approaches to Choosing a Strategy for Economic Development”.

The speaker spoke about the research conducted at the Institute of Economics on the İS (S) İ index and their results. The scientist also talked about determining and assessing the degree of state intervention in the economy, classifying countries of the world according to economic models, different levels of development of “right” and “left” countries, etc.

N. Imanov said that according to estimates of the Institute of Economics, Azerbaijan has an intermediate economic model. According to him, during times of crisis, there is usually an increase in government intervention in the economy, it is expected that this process will be observed in the next 2 years. In addition, liberal economic reforms aimed at the long term should be continued in Azerbaijan.
