Discussed the tasks of the humanities and social sciences during the post-pandemic period

An online meeting of the Scientific Council of the Division of Humanitarian and Social Sciences of ANAS was held.

The event was attended by the first vice-president of ANAS, the chairman of the Scientific Council, academician Isa Habibbayli, members of the council, heads of research institutions, etc.

Opening the meeting, academician Isa Habibbayli acquainted the participants with the issues on the agenda. He said that in recent months ANAS has been operating in accordance with the requirements of the special quarantine regime. Speaking about the international online conferences held, the academician spoke about his participation in the international online conference dedicated to the 1300th anniversary of one of the main monuments of Turkic civilization and written culture Bilge Tonyukuk, which was held by the International Turkic Academy. He noted that the Orkhon-Yenisei inscriptions are also one of these monuments, and added that all these monuments need to be studied more deeply.

The chairman of the council said that the academy held online conferences dedicated to the 97th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, and also hosted an international online event with the participation of the Turkish Embassy and representatives of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

Talking about the changes made to the Charter of ANAS, the first vice-president emphasized that the legal foundations for expanding the Academy's innovative and entrepreneurial activities were fully formed. He noted that consecutive events aimed at obtaining extra-budgetary funds are being implemented in the High Technology Park of ANAS, and the Institute of Economics has prepared and sent to the Cabinet of Ministers proposals related to the possibilities of self-financing of the academy. Isa Habibbayli said that today, in the academies of

sciences of China, Belarus, Poland and other countries, extensive innovation is being carried out, and stressed that modern academies cannot be imagined outside this process.

Continuing his speech, the scientist spoke about the appeals of the post-pandemic period, the challenges facing the humanities and social sciences, and recalled the statement of the ANAS leader in connection with the above issue. He noted that the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev instructed the Philosophy and Economics institutes to deeply study the socio-psychological and economic problems created by the pandemic, to prepare and submit to the Presidium of ANAS scientifically substantiated proposals related to the post-pandemic period. I. Gabibbeyli emphasized the need for the production of medical equipment and medicines during the post-pandemic period, and added that there is a need to create literary works dedicated to the heroes of the pandemic period - doctors, police officers, etc.

Recalling that, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, consistent measures are being taken to exit the country from the pandemic with minimal losses, the ANAS first vice-president noted that the Azerbaijani intelligentsia fully supports this policy and ordered to summarize the proposals in connection with the post-pandemic period and present to their Bureau.

Then, academicians Mohsun Naghisoylu, Govkhar Bakhshaliyeva, Teymur Kerimli, Mukhtar Imanov, Shahin Mustafayev, Nargiz Akhundova, corresponding members of ANAS Musa Gasimli, Ertegin Salamzadeh, Konul Bunyadzadeh, professors Nazim Imanov Ilham, and others voiced their proposals.

The meeting also discussed the orders of the head of state “On the 150th anniversary of Nariman Narimanov” and “On the 150th anniversary of Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev” and upcoming tasks. It was decided to prepare new publications, regularly publish articles in the media and hold online conferences in June on the life and work of prominent writers.

In addition, the results of admission to doctoral studies and thesis of scientific institutions of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences for the 2019-2020 academic year on the training programs for doctors of philosophy and doctors of sciences were considered and approved.

Meanwhile, relevant decisions were taken on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fizuli, the 80th anniversary of academician Ziyad Samadzade and the 75th anniversary of Professor Maisa Rahimova.
