Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On the initiative of the Faculty of Philology of the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) and with the organizational support of the departments of Azerbaijani literature and Azerbaijani linguistics, an online conference "Republic Day" was held.

Opening the conference, academician Mukhtar Imanov, director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, head of the Department of Azerbaijan Literature at AUL, noted that the People Republic of Azerbaijan was built on the basis of secular laws, not religious. He said that, remaining true to the symbolic meaning of green on the flag of the country, the People Republic of Azerbaijan with great respect for religious values, all conditions were created for the normal functioning of religious structures in the country. The main feature of the Republic was that the state did not provide for the intervention of religious organizations in political processes, it was a "separate from religion" state. One of the most important issues of the political course of the Republic of Azerbaijan was the issue of national culture.

M. Imanov noted that “organically combining secular values with national values, the leaders of the Republic applied this line to cultural issues and carried out important events in this field that left their mark on history”, and stressed that the announcement of 2018 by order of the President of Azerbaijan Republic “Year of the Republic”, the implementation on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of various events in the country and abroad indicates that the study of the heritage of the Republic is one of the factors that play an important role in strengthening our independence.

Then the professor of the Department of Azerbaijani Linguistics Adil Babayev spoke about the work done during the 23 months of the existence of the Republic, and gave a brief overview of the activities carried out in the field of science and culture.

At the conference, lectures of students were also listened.

Further discussions were held on the topics of lectures.
