Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The book dubbed “Azerbaijanis. The main stages of the formation of the nation in the XIX-XX centuries ” by leading researcher at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, Doctor of Historical Sciences Aydin Balayev was released by the Moscow publishing house “Flinta”.

The book is dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of the Azerbaijan People Republic.

The monograph traces the formation of the largest nation in the South Caucasus - Azerbaijanis, whose ancestors have inhabited the eastern part of this region for centuries. Based on this, the book begins with a brief historical excursion on the main stages of the formation of the Azerbaijani ethnos, but then the author focuses on the coverage and understanding of the fundamental socio-economic and cultural changes in the life of Azerbaijanis at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries.

The publication is intended for historians and the general public.
