The article “Immobilization of Transition Metal Ions on Quaternized Polymers”, reflecting the results of studies conducted by the Institute’s staff under the leadership of ANAS vice President, Director of the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry, academician Dilgam Tagiyev, was published in the international journal “Digest journal of nanomaterials and biostructures”, included to the Thomson Reuters system.

Almost quantitative quaternization of poly-4-vinylpyridine with benzyl chloride was carried out in an aqueous solution of ethanol, followed by crosslinking before and after immobilization of transition metal ions (Ni, Mn). The obtained samples were studied by physicochemical methods (scanning electron microscope (SEM), x-ray phase (XPA), infrared spectroscopy (IR) analysis). The goal is to use quaternized as well as crosslinked and immobilized samples as effective sorbents and catalysts in many chemical processes.
