Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The fifth volume of the multivolume “History of Azerbaijan Music” was completed and published by the outstanding musicologist and head of the Department of History and Theory of Music of the Institute of Architecture and Art of ANAS, academician Zemfira Safarova and the working group led by her. Academician Z. Safarova is also the ideological author and scientific editor of the work, the chairman of the editorial board and the author of many parts.

In this volume, the path of art and the works of prominent representatives of the generation of composers, whose works were formed mainly during the years of independence — Faraj Garayev, Firangiz Alizadeh, Aydin Azimov, Vagif Mustafazadeh, Polad Bulbuloglu, Azer Dadashov, Ismail Hajibeyov, Ogtay Rajabov, Javanshir Guliyev, Afag Jafarova, Rahila Hasanova and others are analyzed in chronological order. Also, innovations in the musical life of Azerbaijan over the years of independence, international relations of Azerbaijani music, especially jazz and cinema music were studied.

Note that the academic publication of the book “History of Azerbaijani music” is carried out for the first time in the history of Azerbaijan music.
