Pasha Kerimov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Manuscripts of ANAS for Science, Doctor of Philological sciences, purchased copies of the collection of lyric poetry (divan) of the Azerbaijani poet Muhammad Basiri, who lived in the XV-XVI XVI, in the Suleymaniye library (Istanbul) and the National Library of Iran (Tehran) centuries.
Note that Basiri was allegedly born in 1466 and died in 1534. In his youth, Basiri lived in the palace of the rulers of Aghgoyunlu, and in 1487 he visited the capital of Khorasan, the city of Herat. Having earned fame among such talented personalities as Huseyn Baygara, Alishir Nevai and Abdurrahman Jami, Basiri after returning to his homeland moved to Turkey and subsequently died there. In the anthologies (namesake) of Turkish authors it is noted that his work had an impact on the local literary environment. Until now, only a few poems of the poet were known in Azerbaijan. Istanbul copy of Basiri's divan contains poems, 1 gasida and 46 gazels in Persian. The Tehran copy of the poet’s sofa begins with verses in Persian. However, there are also 4 gasidas and 74 gazels in the Azerbaijani language. Gasida dedicated to the rulers of Aggoyunlu and the Ottoman Empire, as well as dignitaries, provide more detailed information about the period in which the poet lived.
Based on the acquired manuscripts, Institute of Manuscripts plans to publish a collection of Basiri poems.
