Institute of Caucasian Studies held an online meeting of the Academic Council

The next meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute of Caucasian Studies of ANAS was held online.

At the event, director of the institute corresponding member of ANAS Musa Gasimli presented a report on the results of the scientific, scientific and organizational activities of the institution in the first half of 2020. He said that during the reporting period, the institute continued research on 16 works, covering 5 topics in 2 scientific areas. Institute employees published 59 scientific articles and abstracts, 36 of which were published abroad. Scientists from Norway, Turkey and Russia alluded to the works of the staff.

Gasimli noted that at international scientific events, which were held in the format of video conferences, were listened 20 lectures of associates, while 7 lectures at the republican conferences. In addition, 2 scientific seminars were held at the institute, employees spoke at book presentations.

It was reported that a researcher at the Department of Caucasian Politics Yegana Bakhshiyeva took part in a training project to participate in the Horizon 2020 program, which was organized for the Eastern Partnership countries by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. In May, Gunay Feyzieva, chairwoman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute, took part in 3 webinars organized by Web of Science and was awarded a certificate. Gunel Musayeva, Head of the Translation, Publishing and Information Department, was awarded an Honorary Diploma for her fruitful work in the scientific, social and political life of ANAS.

The director also noted that the Institute of Caucasian Studies has been successfully operating in the field of training young personnel. After the second wide discussion of the dissertation works by Gunel Musayeva and Gunay Feyzieva, which took place in a video conference format with the participation of the teaching staff of the Department of History and the Department of International Relations of the Presidential Academy of Public Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, they were recommended for defense. In addition, the scientific secretary of the institute, PhD in Psychology, associate professor Sudaba Huseynova and head of the Department of Georgian Studies, PhD in Philosophy, associate professor Vahid Omarov entered the dissertation for the training of Doctors of political sciences.

During the meeting, the scientific work “The Activities of Armenian Organizations in Georgia”, the materials of the Second International Forum of Caucasian Studies and (in 2 volumes) and the issue of the scientific and theoretical journal “Caucasus Studies” were recommended for publication.
