Academician Yagub Mahmudov sent a congratulatory letter to journalists on the occasion of the 145th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press

Director of the Institute of History of ANAS, academician Yagub Mahmudov sent a congratulatory letter to journalists on the occasion of the 145th anniversary of the creation of the Azerbaijani national press.

The letter says:

“July 22, 2020 marks the 145th anniversary of the creation of the Azerbaijani press. Taking this momentous occasion, I want to congratulate all of you on your professional holiday!

We are proud of the glorious history of our national press. The newspaper "Ekinchi", which was published on July 22, 1875 by our great enlightener Hasan-bek Zardabi in the Azerbaijani language, went down in history as the first sample of our national press. "Ekinchi" promoted the advanced ideas of its time, urged people to fight ignorance ... "
