Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On August 14, an online meeting of the Scientific Council of the Division of Earth Sciences of ANAS was held.

The event was attended by the first vice-president of ANAS, chairman of the council, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, members of the Academic Council, heads of scientific institutions and organizations that make up the department, and relevant persons.

The meeting discussed issues related to the tasks arising from the Order of the President of the country dated July 27, 2020 "On additional measures to ensure the efficient use of water resources."

Opening the event, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev noted that according to the mentioned document, the "Action Plan to ensure the effective use of water resources for 2020-2022" was approved. He noted that global climate change and an increase in average temperature, a decrease in water content and precipitation in rivers, the development of agriculture, an increase in demand for drinking water due to population growth require urgent measures to ensure water security in the country.
