Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On September 10, an online discussion of the project "Promotion of forest overview in the Caucasus region" implemented by the Caucasus Regional Ecological Center jointly with the Institute of Geography named after academician H.A Aliyev of ANAS took place.

The event was attended by the director of the Institute of Geography, academician Ramiz Mammadov, Deputy Director for Science, associate professor Maharram Hasanov and scientific secretary, Ph.D. in Geography Zarnura Hamidova.

In his speech, academician Ramiz Mammadov noted that 85% of the forests, which make up 11% of the territory of Azerbaijan, are located on high mountain slopes with importance of an indispensable soil protector, water and climate purifier, so their protection by the state is very important. He said that President Ilham Aliyev repeatedly stressed the importance of paying attention to the establishment of forest strips.

Then the issue of establishing a technical expert group of the project was discussed at the event.
