The soils of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains were modeled

Employee of the Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry, Ph.D. Elton Mammadov's paper joint with German and Polish scientists was published in the prestigious international journal "Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis" with impact factor.

The paper dubbed "Visible and Near-Infrared Reflectance Spectroscopy for Assessment of Soil Properties in the Caucasus Mountains, Azerbaijan" examines the modeling of the main physical and chemical parameters of soils in mountainous areas on the basis of spectroscopic data. The research was conducted in Azerbaijan, in the lowlands of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains, and the amount of organic carbon, soil reaction, carbonate (CaCO3), granulometric composition and moisture content in the soils of this zone were successfully modeled on the basis of hyperspectral data.
