Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS has released the first collection of poems of the talented poet Molla Gasim Zakir, who lived in the XIX century, about whom we have very little information about his life and work.

The authors of the book and the preface are Pasha Karimov, Deputy Director for Science of the Institute of Manuscripts, Doctor of Philology, and Ragub Karimov, a senior researcher of the Multidisciplinary Manuscripts Department. The publication was edited by Naila Mustafayeva, head of the Department of Scientific Funds, Ph.D. in Philology, Associate Professor, and Sabina Ahmadova, a senior researcher of the Department of Persian Manuscripts Research, Ph.D. in Philology.

Note that Molla Gasim was born in about 1800 and passed away in 1845. The works of Molla Gasim, who had been contemporary of Mirza Fatali Akhundzadeh and Gasim bey Zakir, were highly appreciated by his contemporaries.
