Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

With the organization of the Institute of the History of Science of ANAS, an international scientific seminar on science studies was held with the participation of scientists from Russia, Ukraine, Hungary and Azerbaijan. The seminar, organized online, is aimed at establishing an effective dialogue between scientific institutions of the participating countries, as well as developing mutual cooperation.

Opening the seminar, first vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli greeted the participants and said that such events serve to strengthen scientific cooperation. Noting that, despite new research in the field of science studies, there are already successes in this direction, the academician added that the Institute for the History of Science is engaged in these issues in ANAS. I. Habibbayli stressed that the international conferences organized by IHS, along with scientific cooperation, also strengthened friendly relations with foreign scientists and scientific institutions. I.Habibbayli said that the recently created scientific institution with a small staff has achieved many successes in a short period of time, especially noting the publications of the Institute of the History of Science in this direction, as well as the voluminous book on the history of ANAS.

Then the director of the Institute of the History of Science, Doctor of Historical Sciences Maryam Seyidbeyli spoke about the process of the formation of science, the relationship between the history of science and science of science. Noting that the history of science is concerned with the development of science and creative analysis, the scientist said that as a result of the great interest in the development of science in the middle of the twentieth century, a new field of science of science emerged, studying the laws of development of science. The director of the institute said that the science of science as a special science was formed in the 60s of the twentieth century, and then a leap began in the relationship between science and technology. Emphasizing that the area closest to science in the subject and purpose is the history of science, M. Seyidbeyli said that the genesis of various sciences, the methodology of science, the formation of scientific schools and personnel, activities, the history of relations between society and the development of science, the formation of different currents are united in the interests of history of science. These similar tasks bring the history of science and science of science closer together, and their history partially overlaps. In short, the history of science and the study of science are in constant interaction.
