Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), academician Ramiz Mehdiyev acquainted with the research work carried out at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB), the material - technical base of the enterprise and the conditions created for employees.

Members of the Presidium of ANAS - first vice-presidents academician Isa Habibbayli and academician Ibrahim Guliyev, vice-presidents academician Dilgam Tagiyev, academician Irada Huseynova, academician Rasim Alguliyev, academician-secretary, corresponding member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov and member of the Presidium academician Govhar Bakhshaliyeva took part in the event.

Welcoming the guests, the director of the institute, academician Irada Huseynova informed about the history of the enterprise and the scientific-research work carried out here and vital results achieved. He said that at the General Meeting of ANAS on June 30, 2014, a decision was made to establish the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology based on the Department of Fundamental Problems of Biological Productivity of the Institute of Botany. The scientist said that academician Jalal Aliyev had important services in organizing the material - technical base of the enterprise, defining research directions and enriching human resources.

Currently IMBB studies molecular mechanisms of electrochemical and metabolic transformations of solar energy in the process of photosynthesis, clarification of molecular mechanisms of plant resistance to abiotic and biotic factors, agricultural and human health problems through molecular and cellular biotechnology, conducts research in food security, drought, salinity-resistant wheat cultivation, and other areas, and obtaines fruitful results.
