Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The online conference "Our independence is our future" was organized by the Faculty of Philology of the Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) on the occasion of October 18 - the Day of State Independence.

The event was opened by the head of the department of Azerbaijani literature of the university, director of the Institute of Folklore of ANAS, academician Mukhtar Imanov, who congratulated the conference participants on the 29th anniversary of the state independence of Azerbaijan. He spoke about the struggle of our people to restore the state independence of Azerbaijan and about the bitter consequences of the Armenian terror, which we have faced since the first days of independence. Then the academician spoke about the adoption of the "Constitutional Act on State Independence" by the Milli Majlis on October 18, 1991, and said that the Armenian invaders wanted to shake the acquired independence with all their might, to break the will of our people. The great leader Heydar Aliyev, who came to power again in those years, did an important job to defend our independence.

The academician stressed that the political successor to national leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev, carried out extensive reforms for the development of Azerbaijan. He spoke about the unparalleled courage shown by our glorious army in the last days to liberate the Motherland, which has been under enemy occupation for 30 years.
