The next online meeting of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS informed about the preparations for the international conference "Eastern Partnership E-infrastructure (EaPEC 2021)" to be held in 2021.

Babek Nabiyev, head of the International Relations Department of the Institute, Ph.D. in Engineering, said that the “EaPEC” conference, originally scheduled for October 2020, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the EaPEC 2021 conference, which is currently scheduled for the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, is the 5th event implemented within the Eastern Partnership EapConnect project.

Nabiyev noted that numerous meetings were held in preparation for the conference, during which extensive discussions were carried out on the speeches to be made at the plenary sessions of the event.

Then the vice-president of ANAS, director of the institute, academician Rasim Alguliyev spoke about the importance of the EaPConnect project, initiated and coordinated by GEANT, which unites the Eastern Partnership countries. He said the project envisages the creation of an electronic science infrastructure covering the Eastern Partnership countries and providing easy access to high-speed, broadband Internet to millions of scientists, teachers and students in research and educational institutions operating in these countries.

"Holding this conference in our country, which will unite e-science and e-infrastructure issues and unite more than 60 European countries, organized in the framework of the EaPConnect project to coordinate the research and education community in the European Union and the Eastern Partnership countries, will open wide opportunities for Azerbaijani science." It will accelerate the integration of the Azerbaijani scientific community into the European environment,” he added.
