The tragedy of Huseyn Javid dubbed “Uchurum” was first published as a separate book. The book was published by the House-Museum of Huseyn Javid of ANAS on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the publication of the play in print.

The compiler of the book, the director of the museum, Doctor of Philology, Gulbaniz Babakhanli, writes in the Preface that the first stage of the playwright's work ended with this four-act tragedy, the theme of which was taken from Turkish life and reflected artificial Europeanization and foreign influences incompatible with national morality.

According to Javid's acquaintances, the poet began writing the tragedy "The Abyss" in Turkey between 1905 and 1906, returned to the work in 1917 and completed it in 1919, and in April 1920 he published it in parts. On June 2, 1922, the play was staged for the first time at the State Theater named after D. Bunyadzadeh.

Noted that the editor of the publication is the director of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of ANAS, academician Teymur Karimli, and the compiler of the volume is the head of the department of this institution, Ph.D. in History, Associate Professor Javid Jafarov.
