Deputy Director for scientific work of ANAS Institute of Genetic Resources, head of Biotechnology Department, PhD in biological sciences Mehradzh Abbasov and Senior Researcher, PhD in biological sciences Saida Sharifova attended at the training courses in the USA. The course was organized by “Genotyping and Sequencing” laboratory of Department of agriculture and Kansas State University (KSU) USA and under pilot program of Science Development Fund under President of Azerbaijan. On the course, the principle of work of the next generation sequencers 2014, researchers examined the principle of operation of the next generation sequencers, research methods of biological differences in plant genetic resources by the method of sequencing and bioinformatic methods having deeply studied methods of the bioinformation and statistical analysis of results, prepared the instruction in Azerbaijan language. During the visit, were discussed developing collaborative projects and strengthen cooperation between the Department of Agriculture and KSU for the next generation sequencer. In the current year within the pilot project of Science Development Fund, for the first time in the region at Institute of Genetic Resources the Genomic laboratory is created and the most advanced sequencers of future generation were established. The purpose of a course was studying of the demanded methods and rules for work of sequencers at institute.
