Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

On January 9 “National Atlas of the Republic of Azerbaijan” presented at Nakhchivan Department of ANAS.

Opening the meeting, chairman of the department, academic Ismail Hajiyev appreciated National Atlas as a perfect source, stressed its importance from the pint of introducing our country to the world.

The atlas prepared according President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev’s order “About ensuring publication of “Azerbaijan National Atlas” dated April 20, 2011, gives broad information about our country, he noted.

Head of History, Ethnography and Archaeology Institute of the Department, corresponding member of ANAS Veli Bakhshaliyev, director of Natural Resources Institute, corresponding member of ANAS Aladdin Abbasov, director of the Institute of Bioresources, academic Tariyel Talibov, senior researcher at the Institute of Art, Language and Literature, associate Professor Akbar Gasimov informed about the National Atlas and valued it as an important source material in terms of promoting our country.

Note that the “National Atlas of the Republic of Azerbaijan” is the country's most perfect cartographic publication. It contains maps, tables, graphs, and illustrated slides about Azerbaijan.

Cartographic images are only in Azerbijani, explanatory text of the maps in 3 languages. The administrative structure, history, nature, flora, fauna, economy, culture and tourism of Azerbijan includes to the atlas.

National Atlas of the 10 sections contain more than 800 maps.
