Institute of Genetic Resources of ANAS held commemoration ceremony dedicated to 25th anniversary of the 20 January tragedy. The ceremony started with a minute silence for victims of the January 20 tragedy. At the event director of institute, corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akbarov made a speech at action and told about causes of the tragedy on January 20, artful policy of the leaders of the Soviet empire against the Azerbaijani people, consequences of this bloody event, about historical merits of the national leader Heydar Aliyev in giving to this event of a political and legal assessment and perpetuating of memory of the victims of the tragedy. Then chairman of trade union institute, PhD in biology Hamlet Sadigov acted. He said the 20 January 1990 is a day, which went down in the history as the struggle for the freedom and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and as a heroism page. Noted that valor and courage of the courageous sons of the Homeland, who fallen victims of this tragedy will be eternally stored in memory of the Azerbaijani people. Then, Doctor of Biological Sciences Ramiz Aliyev, PhD in biology Gadir Gasimov and Akbar Karimov shared his memories about the tragedy. At the end, documentary film of historical facts about the tragedy has been shown.
