This year marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ashig Alasgar, a prominent representative of the Azerbaijani art of ashug, a powerful master of words, will be celebrated. President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Ashig Alasgar.

The head of the department of the Institute of Literature of ANAS, chairman of the Ashugs Union, doctor of philological sciences, professor Maharram Gasimli said that in accordance with the order, a series of scientific researches and scientific publications and etc. on A.Alasgar's jubilee are on the agenda.

The professor noted that it is very important to organize events to promote the legacy of Ashig Alasgar not only in Azerbaijan, but also at the level of Turkey and European countries.
