Jointly by ANAS Institute of History named after A.Bakikhanov was held a presentation of the book “Dünyanı bəzəyən Abbasın tarixi” ("Tarixi-aləm arayi-Abbasi") of prominent historian, poet and calligrapher of the XVI century Iskandar bey Munshi translated into Azerbaijani language at the Presidential Library of Administrative Department of the President of Azerbaijan Republic on February 9.

Addressing at the event, director of the library Mail Ahmadov noted that, “Dünyanı bəzəyən Abbasın tarixi” book is an important contribution to the studying of history of Azerbaijan statehood.

It was reported that the book which is a valuable source for studying of medieval history of Azerbaijan, especially period of the Safavid Empire was translated into the Azerbaijani language by the doctor of historical sciences, Professor Shahin Farzaliyev. The institute of history published this work in two volumes.

The book “Dünyanı bəzəyən Abbasın tarixi” is the valuable source for studying of history of Azerbaijan. Then director of Institute of History, deputy of Milli Majlis, corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov noted the importance of the book, regarded the edition as an important event for historical science. He noted that, Iskandar bey Munshi’s work intended to wide reader's audience in the Azerbaijani language once again testifies that in the Middle Ages representatives of our people also created grandiose historical works.

Y.Makhmudov thoroughly informed about the life and work activity of the Azerbaijani scientist Iskandar bey Munshi, about his work “Dünyanı bəzəyən Abbasın tarixi”.

Professor Shakhin Farzaliyev who made a speech at the event told about creation of the book, translation process, scientific value of work and Iskandar bey Munshi's life. He reported that the prominent medieval historian who created the work in Persian language served in the palace of the Shah Abbas. Along with the extensive knowledge, he was also a poet, prose writer, calligrapher. In his youth, Iskender Bey served in the Safavid army and then worked in the palace of Shah Abbas in the of post Munshi (Secretary).

It was reported that three-volume work is rich with the actual materials on stories of the Safavid's state. The author spent some years of life for creation of this valuable work. If it couldn't express the exact value of the event on Farsi, he passed to native Azerbaijani language. Author of the preface to the book is corresponding member of ANAS Y.Makhmudov. Spoke at the event academician Vasim Mammadaliyev, deputy director of Institute of History Jabi Bayramov, Professors Tofig Najafli, Elkhan Azizov and others noted the importance of the publication of valuable work in the Azerbaijani language, called the book an important contribution to Azeri historiography.
