On March 3, at the electronic assembly hall of the Institute of Literature was held the presentation of “Caucasus and the Armenians” book in Russian by employee of the Institute of ANAS Archaeology and Ethnography, Professor Rauf Huseynzadeh.

The event was opened by the vice-president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli, who spoke about the historical significance of the book. He was noted that the multi-vector processes in the Caucasus in XIX - the beginning of XXI century consist of a number of steps related to the nature of the relationship of the great powers and major regional states with local political structures, as well as the geopolitical events that have epochal significance for the Caucasus.

Academician noted that, appearance of the mass of Armenians in the Caucasus at the beginning of the XIX century had negative consequences for the local population, in the first place - for the Muslims.

Speaking about the activities of the Commission for study of genocide against the Azerbaijanis, created by the decision of the Presidium of ANAS dated on October 15, 2014, vice-president of ANAS spoke about the work of the Commission in the direction of delivering to the world community the truth about the genocide committed by Armenians against the Azerbaijani people throughout history.

He reported that as a result of fruitful activity of the Commission was published numerous books reflecting realities of genocide so far.

It was noted that, the main idea of the book proves that Armenians – are not Caucasians.

They are alien element, allochthons which appeared in mass quantity in the Caucasus only in the XIX century. Also there was this event, epoch-making for the Armenian ethnos, thanks to purposeful resettlement policy of the Russian Empire.

Then the director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, Professor Maisa Rahimova acted and highly appreciated the scientific importance of the new edition envisaged for specialist-historians and those who are engaged in problems of the Caucasian region.

At the event also were listened the reports by Aliagha Mammadli on “The role of the play “Caucasus and Armenians” in exposing the myth of “Great Armenia”, Irada Baghirova on “Disclosure of the terrorist activities of political parties in the work of “Caucasus and Armenians”, Fazail Veliyev on “The resettlement of Armenians in the Caucasus and its negative consequences for Azerbaijan in studies by R.Huseynzadeh”.
