Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On December 15, corresponding member of ANAS, Gubkin Prize Laureate, Institute of Geology, “Oil Fields Development” department, Doctor of Science in Technology, Professor Arif Guliyev is 80 years old.

Taking into account the scientific merits of the scientist, Presidium of ANAS has decided to award him with the Honor Title on the occasion of 80th anniversary.

Arif Mehdi oglu Guliyev was born in 1963, defended candidature thesis on “Some problems of hydrodynamics of gas-oil layer”, doctoral thesis on “Development of methods of hidrogasdynamic calculations of development of oil fields and gas “in Moscow 1974.

His research objects are Development of methods of hidrogasdynamic calculations of development of oil fields and gas; modelling of process of development of deposits with complex rheological behaviour system of wells at various modes; working out of applied programs for definition of indexes of development of deposits; economic-mathematical modelling, optimum forecasting and control of process of development of hydrocarbonaceous resources; building of effective methods of interpretation of results of hydrogastermodynamic researches of wells for the purpose of definition filtration-capacitor, rheological and thermodynamical parameters of layer.

Author of 241 scientific papers, 9 monograph, book and dictionary, as well as 6 instructions, methodic leadership, 13 invention and patents.

Attended the several international conferences and symposiums, held researches joint with YUNOKAL Company mostly in United States of America.

Arif Guliyev has been member of Problem Council on “Oil and gas deposits development” former USSR Academy of Sciences, deputy chairman of Scientific Council for Azerbaijan SSR “Oil-extracting” problems, deputy editor –in-chief of “ANAS News (earth sciences) journal, member of a number of specialized councils and methodological councils of the former USSR Higher and secondary Education and Enlightenment Ministries on technical subjects, scientific advisor of the Soviet Encyclopedia, Chairman of the Expert Council of Earth Sciences at the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Currently, acts as the deputy chairman of the same council. Supervised 4 doctors of sciences and 14 PhDs.
