Report on the scientific and organizational activity of Ganja Department of ANAS in 2014

At the regular meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was submitted report on the scientific and organizational activity of Ganja Department of ANAS in 2014. Speaking of the scientific and organizational work carried out in the regional office in the reporting year, the academician-secretary of the department, academician Fuad Aliyev said that investigations were carried out in accordance with the intended objectives of the Presidium of ANAS. It was noted that researches in the institutes for technical sciences were carried out in the direction of rational use of natural resources in the western region, the development of recycling technologies to solve environmental problems, implementation decrees arising from orders for the development of non-oil sector.

Head of the Department said that the department institutes performed 31 works in 16 stages spanning 26 topics and obtained 3 important scientific results. Developed technologies for producing coagulate from bauxite, “Seven Beauties” poem by Nizami Ganjavi was translated and published.

Academician F. Aliyev stressed that, an individual from department employees was elected an active member of ANAS, one - a corresponding member. Preliminary defense of a doctoral student was held and 2 employees received the degree of PhD.

Center for Distance Education was decided to establish at Ganja Department in a site meeting which was held in February 2014 in Ganja. As a result of the support of the Institute of Information Technology in the Department of Ganja were laid fiber-optic cables that form the basis of broadband Internet technology, established an infrastructure network “AzScienceNet”. As a continuation of the activities in that direction there was established the Center for Distance Education, noted academician-secretary of the department.

Scientists of the department made scientific reports in the United States, France, Germany and Cyprus.

According to the speaker, one of the challenges ahead was to prepare young scientists. In accordance with the decree of the Presidium of ANAS Ganja Department of ANAS held entrance exams, which resulted in 2 people enrolled in doctoral studies, and one man - in post -graduate.

During the past year in the 21 countries of the world have been published 74 scientific works of members of the Council of young scientists and specialists of Ganja Department.

It was noted that agency staff published 19 books, 138 articles, 24 of which were published in journals with impact factor, and 9 theses.

In conclusion, the decision of the Presidium of ANAS the report on the scientific and organizational activities of the department in 2014 was considered satisfactory, a decision was made wide usage of distance education and the further expansion of international scientific relations.
